Rebeca Acosta
Chicago Peace Fellows Research Assistant
Rebeca Acosta is a research assistant supporting the Chicago Fellowship programming and the Global Alumni Network in grant prospecting research, building fundraising capacity, and sustainable development. She is graduating from DePaul University in 2026 with a major in Sociology and a minor in Philosophy, where her academic work grounds lived phenomenological experience as a site of sociological inquiry, using decolonial methods to explicate and complicate coloniality by interrogating its matrices of power and rendering visible the forms of violence they produce. This commitment to understanding power and community informs her professional work across the nonprofit sector, from grant writing and donor research to visual advocacy and community outreach, having accompanied organizations including Centro Sanar, Telpochcalli Community Education Project, and Chicago Grows Food through DePaul University’s Egan Office of Urban Education & Community Partnerships.
